With 2016 finally coming to an end, inspired by my friend Lu at jessica-chastain.com I thought it would be great to do a summary of this last year in regard to Anthony’s career.
The year started with Anthony attending the TCA where he talked about his upcoming TV movie All The Way. The film aired on HBO on May 21, 2016. The film was well received by critics. It has been nominated for a Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials. It got nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Television Movie as well as acting nominations for Bryan Cranston and Melissa Leo.
Anthony then indirectly started the
Captain America: Civil War press tour by attending the Wizard World Comic Con with his Captain America co-stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Jeremy Renner & Frank Grillo.

January – March are usually award seasons time. Anthony made an appearance at the SAG Awards, Spirit Awards & MTV Awards before taking his part as the king in Mardi Gras 2016.

February also focused on Anthony’s first 2016 movie
Triple 9 where he played Marcus Belmont. The film stars an ensemble cast featuring Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Teresa Palmer, Michael K. Williams, Gal Gadot, Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. Anthony and his co-stars did press for the movie in London, New York & Toronto.

With April the
press tour from hell Captain America: Civil War press tour kicked off in
Los Angeles and for the next month Anthony and his co-stars Chris Evans & Sebastian Stan went to
China,
Singapore,
South Korea,
UK and then back all the way the US with
Miami &
New York.

With less than a week of a break, Anthony was non-stop and jumped into a US press tour for
All The Way in
Los Angeles,
Texas,
Washington DC,
New York and ended it in
Atlanta.

June was such a deserved break for Anthony after 2 long months of doing press, he went to the UK with his MCU co-star Samuel L. Jackson to support
One For The Boys campaign.

After June, Anthony didn’t attend any other event as he was busy filming. 2016 gave us the news about 4 of Anthony’s upcoming projects. He joined his Hurt locker director Kathryn Bigelow’s
new movie about the 1967 Detroit riots with John Boyega, Jack Reynor , Will Poulter, Ben O’Toole and Hannah Murray. Another project is
Wetlands, a dark romantic thriller written and to be directed by Emanuele Della Valle.
Anthony also signed a new movie where he’ll play Johnnie Cochran, the lawyer best known for his leadership role in the defense and criminal acquittal of O. J. Simpson. The last few months of 2016, Anthony was in Europe filming IO, a sci-fi pic for director Jonathan Halpery. Mackie will play Micah, a complicated and mysterious refugee on his way to the imminent shuttle launch.
With movie promotions comes written coverage in multiple magazines. A lot of the press focused on Captain America: Civil War but the one that focused on Anthony himself were some of my favorites.

Written features that include new photoshoots were also a huge part of 2016, here are some of my favorite Anthony photo sessions from 2016.

And I think that’s about it? It’s been a pretty busy year, had it ups and downs but as long as we focus on the positive and keep going, we’re going to be ok. I’d like to thank everyone for visiting, for the comments and for the amazing feedback about the site.
I’d also like to wish Anthony (and you guys) a happy new year, may 2017 brings you and your families joy and happiness.
